Archiving PDF files using IDM Webservices (Toolkit) results in a 'wrong' mimetype in the F_DOCFORMAT field: application/octet-stream instead of the expected application/pdf This is a default behaviour since Adobe Reader is not installed on the Web server Since customer was not happy installing Adobe Reader on the Webserver the solution was to add the registry key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.pdf leave (Default) value blank and add string 'Content Type' with value 'application/pdf' after restarting IIS the F_DOCFORMAT value was populated with the mimetype application/pdf.
